Dear parents/ carers,

As another term comes to an end, I'd like to thank you all for your support. It has been a very busy term filled with lots of great learning and experiences!

I would like to wish a Happy Easter and a Happy Vaisakhi to families that are celebrating, and hope that you all have a lovely time with your families.

Summer Fayre Monday 9th June (afternoon)

Here is a special date for your diary! We will be hosting a summer fayre to raise money for our school fund. This fund will allow us to continue to provide our exciting enrichment days and experiences for our pupils.

We will share more information with you nearer the time about this exciting event, but there will be lots of activities for families, refreshments to buy and lots of prizes to be won!

Important dates for your diary for next half-term

Children return to school on Monday 28th April

May Day Bank Holiday (School is closed): Monday 5th May

Staff Training Day (School is closed): Friday 23rd May

Year 1 Black Country Museum

The children in Year 1 had an amazing day at the Black Country Museum where they stepped back in time into the Victorian era.  They learnt all about the lives of the Victorian people, how they travelled and looked at how they lived. This linked really well to their topics about toys and the Victorian era.

They even visited a Victorian school where some of the Yew Tree teachers got into trouble with the Headmistress!

Year 2 Great Fire of London

Year 2 learnt about the Great Fire of London. As one of the most devastating events in mainland British history, children created houses with their parents so that we could see how quickly the fire spread and just how much of London was devastated by the fire.

The children also had a workshop to look at what London was like at the time, and to learn more about how the fire started.

Year 4 Black Country Museum

Year 4 took a journey into the past when they visited the Black Country Living Museum. The trip was linked to their learning about the changes in the region over time. One of the highlights was a journey on a narrow boat along the canal!

Year 5 Skills Workshop

Year 5 were invited to Brookvale by Aston Villa as part of the foundation programme to take part in a skills workshop aimed at getting children more physically active and engaged with sport.

They had an amazing time. We definitely have some future stars in the making!

World Book Day

Yew Tree celebrated World Book Day with activities across school that encouraged children to read, write and illustrate like authors. We wrote a whole school story, using a writing relay, read with other year groups and drew some awesome illustrations of monsters to match our stories!
