Dear parents and carers,

We have come to the end of another busy and exciting term, and I would like to thank all our parents and carers for your continued support throughout.

This term will end for children on Thursday 18th December 2025.

School will re-open for children on Tuesday 6th January 2026.

Please see the website for term dates and upcoming events: Yew Tree Community School - Events

I would like to wish everyone celebrating a lovely Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Head of School

Seasonal Parties

Our children’s seasonal parties will take place on Wednesday, 17th December.

Children are welcome to wear their favourite party clothes (please avoid high heels for safety).
They can also bring along some party treats to share — these must be vegetarian, packaged, in-date, and completely nut-free to keep everyone safe. No drinks please.

Reception Places 2026

Online admissions opened 1 October 2025 for Reception admissions in September 2026 and will close on 15th January 2026. Applications for primary school entry received after 15 January 2026 will only be considered after applications received on time have been processed. Late applications will be processed after 16 April 2026.

Applications can be made online through the Birmingham City Council website Application Form until the final deadline of 15 January 2026. Offer notifications will be sent on 16 April 2026.

Parents who apply late are less likely to be offered one of their preferred schools.  All the information parents need to support making their preferences is available on the BCC website: www.birmingham.gov.uk/schooladmissions.

More advice and support is also available from Children’s Services on 0121 303 1888.

Thank you for your incredible generosity!
Your kind donations to Children in Need and our school fund are truly appreciated. Because of your support, we’re able to make a real difference — helping vulnerable families both within our community and beyond.

NHS guidelines: is my child too ill for school?

Coughs and colds

It's fine to send your child to school with slight cough or common cold symptoms, such as a runny nose, sore throat or headache, as long as they're otherwise well and do not have a high temperature.

If they have a high temperature, keep them off school until the temperature has gone.

Encourage your child to throw away any used tissues and to wash their hands regularly.
