Important changes to Free School Meals (FSM) from September 2026.

What is changing?

From September 2026, the Government is expanding eligibility for Free School Meals. This means that all children whose households receive Universal Credit will be entitled to Free School Meals, regardless of earnings. The previous income limit of £7,400 no longer applies.

What this means for families

  • If your household receives Universal Credit, your child may now be eligible for Free School Meals even if you were not previously entitled.

  • Free School Meals are not applied automatically. You must still make an application so that the school can confirm eligibility and ensure your child receives meals.

  • Even if your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 (where meals are already free), applying is important as it helps the school access additional funding to support pupils.

What do you need to do?

If you think your child may be eligible, please apply for Free School Meals. Applications will open ahead of September 2026 and usually require:

  • Your National Insurance number

  • Confirmation of Universal Credit or other qualifying benefits

Why it matters

Free School Meals ensure children have access to a nutritious daily meal and may also unlock additional support for schools, such as Pupil Premium funding.

If you would like help applying or have any questions, please contact the school office in confidence.

Summer Uniform and Sun Safety

As the weather gets warmer, we also encourage everyone to be sun smart. Please make sure your child is protected from the sun by:

•Applying sunscreen before school

•Having a refillable water bottle to school every day

•Wearing a suitable sun hat, if needed

•Wearing sunglasses, if needed

Thank you for your continued support in keeping our children safe, comfortable, and ready to learn!

Children's Book Project & Aston Villa Foundation

We are really excited that Aston Villa FC hosted a book drive for us recently; our children loved receiving the gifted books!

Thank you!

Thank you so much for your generosity in raising money for Comic Relief. We raised a total of £76.61 for this excellent charity!
