8:15am - 8:45am FREE Breakfast Club

What is the new breakfast club offer?

We are excited to be part of the government’s free breakfast club programme, which is funding universal breakfast clubs across the country. From summer term 2026, free breakfast clubs will be available in selected schools, as part of a national roll-out of free breakfast clubs in all primary schools. Free breakfast clubs mean no child starts school hungry and will help set children up for the day by providing a nutritious breakfast as well as time with friends to enjoy activities such as reading and crafts.

As part of the offer, Yew Tree Community School will continue to offer 30 minutes of childcare alongside a free breakfast. The club is open to all pupils from Reception to Year 6.

Is the club free?

Yes – the club is completely free to attend for 30 mins from 8.15 a.m. until 8.45 a.m.

What can my child expect from the club?

Your child will be given breakfast and will be supervised whilst they eat during the breakfast club. There will be enrichment activities such as sports activities and arts and crafts.

What food will you serve to my child at the breakfast club?

Your child will be offered a nutritious breakfast during the breakfast club. This will include toast, cereals, fruit and milk. All food offered will be compliant with School Food Standards.

What time does the club start and finish?

The free breakfast club will begin at 8.15 a.m. and finish at 8.45 a.m. Your child(ren) will then be taken to their classroom for the start of the school day.

What will happen to the earlier paid-for breakfast club?

We are continuing to run our full paid-for morning breakfast club offer from 7.45 a.m.

My child has an allergy or dietary requirement – how will you ensure that this is accommodated?

The safety of children with food allergies, food intolerance or Coeliac Disease attending breakfast clubs is a priority. If your child has an allergy or dietary requirement, you must make us aware of this so it can be managed safely. We will provide parents and carers with the allergenic ingredients used in the foods available.

We look forward to welcoming your children to our breakfast club!
